About Plum Landing

A Tradition Of Refined Living

A Secure, Quiet, & Peaceful Environment

Plum Landing Retirement Community was the dream of Ida Mighell, a school teacher and principal. Miss Mighell made provisions in her will to build comfortable housing, designed specifically for active retired seniors. The result was a beautiful, six-story building in a park-like setting along the Fox River: Plum Landing.

In 1962, Plum Landing Retirement Community opened its doors as a not-for-profit organization, providing a secure environment in a quiet and peaceful setting for active adults, 55 and better, who want to live independently. We are governed by a local board of directors who are prominent in all areas of local business, many of whom have had family that called Plum Landing home.

Plum Landing Retirement Community is proud of its reputation for being a true community where individualism is encouraged and respected.

Benefits Of A Not-For-Profit Community

Our not-for-profit status ensures that our prices are reasonable and that any surplus is invested directly back into Plum Landing to provide the very best services and facilities to our residents. And since we are a local 501(c)3 corporation, all donations we receive are tax deductible and directly benefit our residents. We are thankful for the outstanding community support we have received since opening in 1962. Plum Landing residents and their families can have peace-of-mind knowing that we are here to stay.
